I like to acknowledge that it is difficult for parents to seek a child therapist for their children or family counseling for the family. Particularly if you are a parent or caregiver questioning and concerned by what is happening in your family.  There might be feelings of being judged or confronted for your parenting style or technique.  You might have an overall feeling or anxiety about how will this work, or how will it make me feel as a parent?  You might be asking yourself,  what can a child therapist do for my family and specifically for my child?

I would like to assist parents and other caregivers who want to be actively involved in their child's development and healing.  I do this by practicing psychotherapy incorporating interventions of art, play therapy, Theraplay informed sessions and working individually with your child. I work collaboratively with parents or other caregivers after performing a brief assessment of two to three sessions with your child.  With younger children there is more family work involved as I work together with parents and caregivers to craft a treatment plan. Work with adolescents takes a more traditional talk therapy route. Caregivers are still very involved but as a child matures, more privacy  is in place.

I have a unique experience of what it is like to have a grand child in a NICU. (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and how this effects a family. I would like to encourage you to contact me if you are experiencing isolation or depression in regards to your child's birth. If you are experiencing postpartum depression I can help. Please give me a call.
